About NARP (National Average Retail Price)

The U.S. Department of Energy publishes NARP for Diesel & Gasoline every Monday. NARP computes the average of a sample of retail station gasoline prices taken from several U.S. states for the previous week. These prices include federal, state and county taxes. Regular, Mid-Grade & Premium gasoline prices are combined together in the NARP index.
Although NARP may differ from the local price you pay at the pump, NARP closely follows retail price movements across the U.S. So if pump prices increase in your area, NARP should increase as well.
