How 50 Gallon Club™ Works

Price Protection

$30 buys you protection against fuel prices spiking by more than $1.00/gallon over 12 months. 50 gallons/month of gasoline and/or diesel are protected. Your protection contract is for two consecutive 6 month periods. Your Trigger Price, which determines when a payout is due to you, is reset after the first 6 months to keep you up to date with market conditions.

Your Trigger Price

Your Trigger Price takes into account NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange) gasoline and/or diesel futures prices spiking by more than $1.00/gallon from current market levels. NYMEX and pump prices move up and down in lockstep so NYMEX gives you the price protection that you need.

Your trigger price for the first 6 months will be emailed to you when you buy price protection, and again for the second 6 months when it is reset based on prevailing market conditions.
 

Your Payouts

You may track daily NYMEX settlement prices by clicking Gasoline & Diesel Prices. When the average monthly NYMEX settlement price exceeds your Trigger Price, a monthly payout is made to you for the price difference multiplied by your contracted monthly gallons. You are paid out for each contracted month that this event occurs.
